Teens Acting Against Violence (TAAV) Program Evaluation
National Center on Domestic and Sexual Violence
Jump to content. Violence causes more injury and death in children, teenagers, and young adults than infectious disease, cancer, or birth defects. There is no single explanation for the violence caused by youth. Many different things cause violent behavior in children. The more these things are present in a child's life, the more likely he or she is to commit an act of violence. Behavior will change depending on a child's age and gender. Violent behavior may be targeted at parents, other children, friends, or other family members.
Biba. Age: 23. I am a sensitive girl, I love men's touch and deep penetrations. I am a shameless girl who is ready for a long sexual intercourse. And are you ready? If ready, then let's start!
Violent Behavior in Children and Teens
Almost 20 years later TAAV is still thriving and has grown in many ways. Most meetings focus on teen issues like teen dating violence, STDs, alcohol awareness, body image, self-esteem, and suicide prevention. TAAV activities are structured around leadership development, cultural relevance, work experience, outdoor education, skill building, presentations, healthy activities, and the crisis and family work that is the mission of TWC. TAAV youth teach the presentations with the understanding that peers learn best from their peers and that the skills TAAV members gain from doing these presentations are a great boost to their knowledge, their confidence, and their public speaking skills.
Damion, age 15, was stabbed to death in Brooklyn by a classmate after an argument about a football game. Oscar, 16, was shot with a rifle in a school parking lot in Tucson during a gang-related incident. Chris, a year-old boy from North Carolina, hanged himself with a jump rope. Students and adults who knew him said that the boy might have been bullied at school. Most of us remember the killings at Columbine High School in Colorado.
