In this video: me, teaching a combination included in the workshop dedicated to “Abdel Halim Hafez” in Portland, Oregon, USA.
Traveling the world doing the work I love the most is a privilege I´ve earned, and keep earning, with more work, discipline and sacrifice, than people imagine.
From Egypt to the World, bringing back the Soul of Oriental Dance is not only my motto but my reality.
I pay the price for my success willingly – proving myself, my talent and professionalism, on a daily basis is a part of it.
These last work trips contained everything a good story must contain: victory, drama, tragedy, theft, extreme happiness, recognition, nostalgy, disease, recovery, overwhelming beauty and extreme ugliness; a call from the past and visions for the future.
I´m deeply thankful to the event organizers, students, audiences and friends who keep cherishing my work and my peculiar Vision of Egyptian Dance. I´m not your regular dancer, choreographer and teacher. I´m not your regular anything. Period.
And I know it takes generosity, and a vision of your own, to recognize the value of what I do. We – me and you – are swiming, together, against the tide. We – me and you – believe Egyptian Dance is an art form that can change the ones who practice it, changing the world as a consequence.
Me and you are crazy dreams. And I love YOU for that.
Without you, my talents would remain unused, unappreciated, kept in a room of forgetfulness – dark & damp, stinking of self-contempt – where so many dreams of so many (unknown) artists have been living for centuries.
Thank you for all the work already accomplished and for the one we´ll accomplish.
