If they could see what I see*

10645132_735270789888372_5770010502352648361_nTeaching On Line – via skype – has been a happy surprise. It´s incredible: although we have a machine between us (a handicap I thought could not be dealt with), I can still FEEL the person I´m teaching as if she/he was physically present in the same room. I can read their thoughts, body language, doubts, tensions, insecurities, etc – all those things that come easy to me when I´m with a person in a regular, traditional, class.

One of the most common (intriguing) things I see – with a machine and a screen between us and whatever else might come our way – is how BEAUTIFUL they are. I´ve been teaching female dancers so I can only speak about them but I bet I´d feel the same with male dancers. People, in general, are not aware of how beautiful, creative and unique they are. It´s like we suffer from a particular kind of blindness: we can´t see our own greatness.

I can certainly see it and I do my best to guide them towards that awareness but they usually can´t. Wondering why…

“You are beautifully enough. Your stories of “not good enough” are fictional novels written by a culture still hiding its light under a bushel of shame. The REAL story, your TRUE autobiography, is one of inherent magnificence & courage & the divinity flowing through your soul-veins. So you decide which book to read – the fictional novel written by those who do not SEE you, or the HOLY BOOK written by your glorious spirit.”
